On behalf of the Monmouth County Board of County Commissioners, I delivered the Monmouth County “State of the County” address on Feb. 11 to discuss the County’s accomplishments in 2024 and goals for 2025.

During 2024, some of the County’s accomplishments included:

  • We launched the MedStar program.
  • We announced the Monmouth ACTS Navigation System hotline.
  • We declared Craft Beverage Month in Monmouth County through Brewed & Distilled in Monmouth and will do so again on March 3, 2025.
  • The Monmouth County Vocational School District received various accolades.
  • We hosted two Made in Monmouth expos.
  • Our Tourism industry had record-breaking beach revenue.
  • We hosted a Shared Services Summit.
  • The Library Headquarters renovations were completed.
  • We administered the Municipal Land Preservation Program to 21 towns in Monmouth County.
  • The County held multiple job fairs.
  • The County hosted the MonmouthNJ 250 State Summit.
  • We published the first two editions of the County’s newsletter, The Monmouth Minute.

We are finalizing the rebranding of the Special Citizens Area Transportation (SCAT) program to “Ride in Monmouth,” which will also provide all medical trips, including trips for life-sustaining treatments, at no cost to County residents.

The County is always looking for ways to better serve our residents. That is why Monmouth ACTS launched the Navigation System in 2024 to streamline access to human services resources. Now, residents can call 732-683-8959 to connect with various human services resources offered through Monmouth ACTS.

In 2024, I hosted the first-ever Director’s Wellness Challenge which encouraged County employees to complete 5,000 steps per day, for at least 20 days out of the month, from Oct. 1 through Dec. 31, 2024, with the prize of free personal days. The Challenge was a massive success! During the three-month Challenge, we had more than 900 employees participate, with more than half completing the Challenge for all three months!

I am also excited to announce that we will be doing another Director’s Challenge this spring, for 60 days leading up to Memorial Day weekend with a new goal of 7,500 steps per day!

As a Board, we are committed to supporting our business community which is why we have developed multiple programs to assist businesses. These programs include Made in Monmouth, Grown in Monmouth, and Brewed & Distilled in Monmouth. We are excited to announce our latest initiative to help our small businesses, Slice in Monmouth! Slice in Monmouth will help showcase and promote all of the great pizza spots in Monmouth County! Stay tuned for more information!

In 2025, we will also be looking forward to 2026 as we celebrate America’s 250th birthday! The MonmouthNJ 250 Committee, chaired by myself and Monmouth County Clerk Christine Giordano Hanlon, was proud to host a meeting with historical groups, and two municipal Summits with mayors and governing body members from Monmouth County municipalities.
