The New Jersey Association of Counties (NJAC) is committed to advocating for legislation, regulations, and policy directives that empower county governments to operate more effectively and efficiently. As a non-partisan organization that represents the only true regional form of government in the State with a unified and proactive voice, NJAC is committed to advancing innovative programs and initiatives that enhance the level of service provided and save valuable taxpayer dollars.

GRASSROOTS ADVOCACY NJAC engages in grassroots advocacy with an active board of directors that includes developing legislative position statements; testifying at State House committee meetings and public hearings; leading workshops and brainstorming sessions; managing the press and public relations; and, promoting cutting edge county programs and initiatives.

NJAC also coordinates and hosts the regular meetings of the county administrators, clerks of the board, personnel directors, county improvement authorities and county counsels.

REGIONAL COUNTY MEETINGS: Modeled after the successful Southern Jersey County Commissioners Association (SNJCCA), county executives, commissioners, constitutional officers, and professionals in the central and northern regions of the State meet on a regular basis as the Central New Jersey County Commissioners Association (CNJCCA) and Northern New Jersey County Commissioners Association (NNJCCA).

ANNUAL CELEBRATION OF COUNTY GOVERNMENT: Each May, NJAC hosts an outstanding annual celebration of county government, where 700 county and business leaders may network with colleagues, share resources and ideas, earn valuable continuing education and professional development credits, and enjoy the one-of-a-kind “County Vocational-Technical School Cook-Off Challenge.”

YEAR-END SUMMIT & VIRTUAL WORKSHOPS: Each December at its annual Summit, NJAC uses its platform to close the year by raising awareness on important issues of the day such as homelessness, human trafficking, mental health, substance abuse, and more. Throughout the year, NJAC also hosts a variety of informative and educational virtual workshops that impact county governments, with both services free for public officials.

NJAC FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES: Since 2011, the NJAC Foundation has awarded over $500,000 in scholarships to 750 county vocational technical school graduates who continued their education at home in the Garden State.  Through the generous grant funding from some of New Jersey’s leading corporate citizens, the Foundation has enjoyed the opportunity to provide some much-needed financial support to families.
