Hudson County Community College (HCCC) recently held a topping out for the school’s new Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) building, which is under construction in Jersey City. Located at 257-263 Academy Street near Journal Square, the construction currently is the largest STEM project in Hudson County, according to college president Dr. Glen Gabert.
During the ceremony, the building’s uppermost beam was signed by the project team, including Eric Chait and Michael Sidoti, both project managers with MAST Construction Services (www.mastconstruction.com), an award-winning, Little Falls, NJ-based project and construction management services and owner’s representative firm. MAST is the construction manager for the project. Also signing the beam were Dr. Gabert and several Hudson County representatives.
Scheduled to open in August 2017, the new $30 million STEM building will encompass 70,000 square feet on six floors, including computer, science, engineering, physics, electrical, biology, histology and chemistry labs, along with lecture halls and classrooms. When complete, the building will also include offices, student lounges and a coffee shop.
“Hudson County Community College’s new STEM building demonstrates the school’s ongoing dedication to serving its students and the community,” said Ted Domuracki, MAST’s founder and president. “We are pleased to be a part of the school’s efforts and look forward to the completion of this tremendous state-of-the-art facility.”
