(Trenton) Amazon has made a $21,000.00 contribution to the NJAC Foundation for county vocational-technical school graduates who plan on continuing their education at a county college or state college or university. “On behalf of the Board of Trustees of the NJAC Foundation, I’m grateful to Amazon for their continued generosity and commitment to our county vocational-technical schools, and look forward to selecting scholarship winners committed to advancing their education at home in the great State of New Jersey,” commented NJAC Foundation President Teri O’Connor.
Since 2022, Amazon has contributed over $72,000 to the NJAC Foundation, which has helped over 84 county vocational-technical school graduates continue their education at home in the Garden State. Pursuant to the contribution, the NJAC Foundation will award one scholarship of $1000.00 to a student nominated by the superintendent of their school in all twenty-one counties.
“We’re proud to contribute to the education and future of tomorrow’s leaders through this scholarship donation. At Amazon, we believe that success and scale bring broad responsibility. Education and upskilling are key to unlocking promise and opportunity, and we remain committed to this partnership with NJAC,” said Dave Vitali, Public Policy Manager for Amazon in New Jersey.
Amazon has created more than 43,000 full- and part-time jobs in New Jersey and the company is committed to help upskill its workforce through their flagship Career Choice program. Career Choice is an education and training benefit that helps eligible Amazon employees grow their skills for career success at Amazon or elsewhere. Amazon jobs also come with an average starting pay of over $22 per hour, more than twice the federal minimum wage.
The NJAC Foundation is a 501 (C)(3) non-profit organization affiliated with the New Jersey Association of Counties (NJAC) and is committed to providing financial assistance to county vocational-technical school graduates who plan on continuing their education at a county or state college.
