AMAZON AWARDS $10,000.00 GRANT TO NJAC FOUNDATION!

(Trenton) Amazon has awarded  the NJAC  Foundation  a grant of $10,000.00 for county vocational- technical school graduates who plan on continuing their education at a county college or state college or university.

“The Board of Trustees for the NJAC Foundation is grateful to Amazon for awarding the NJAC Foundation this wonderful grant, and we look forward to sharing this outstanding opportunity with our county vocational-technical schools in selecting scholarship winners committed to advancing their education in the Garden State,” commented NJAC Foundation President Heather Simmons.

Pursuant to the grant, the NJAC Foundation will award one $475.00 scholarship to a student nominated by the superintendent of their school in all twenty-one counties.

It’s why we launched our Career Choice program, which fully funds tuition, job training, and other educational opportunities for all of our frontline employees. And it’s also why we partner with organizations like the NJAC Foundation to help fund scholarships to vo-tech students who wish to continue on in their education after graduating high school. We look forward to growing our relationship with the NJAC Foundation and continuing to make a positive impact in communities across New Jersey,” said Colin Newman, Director of Public Policy for Amazon.

Amazon now employs over 58,000 people in New Jersey and is committed to help upskill the American workforce. Amazon recently announced a commitment to fully fund college tuition, books, and fees, as well as high school diplomas, GEDs, college preparatory courses, and English as a Second Language (ESL) proficiency certifications, for its front-line hourly employees through the Career Choice program. Amazon jobs also come with an average starting pay of $18 an hour, more than twice the federal minimum wage.
