The New Jersey Association of Counties (NJAC) presented a discussion on the New Jersey Protection Against Climate Threat (PACT)/Resilient Environments and Landscape (REAL) Rules as the latest in a series of free virtual workshops in 2024. In this session, Cape May County officials provided a comprehensive overview of the sweeping rule proposal and its significant impact on new development, redevelopment, and the renovation of existing development. The session also made recommendations on how the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) and State leaders should consider a more moderate regulatory approach that actively engages stakeholders at the local and federal levels along with the business community and residents.
